Our Campsite

I camped next to Bruce (silver "potato" van) and Matt & Lu, these pictures also show Nick working on a new drum head. Nick does great work, he put the new head on my djembe.

Just west of the pictures above, on the other side of the tree line, is the Backfield, where the Beeches Kitchen landed, this is where I shared food and spent a lot of nice lazy hangout time.

Panoramic views of the Backfield, which is by far the least populated area of the Starwood campground. In previous years this field has been almost empty, the number of tents here show that Starwood is growing!

The Sights of Starwood

There is no way this photojournal can capture the richness and fun of wandering around Starwood looking at things, but here are just a few tastes.

I practice my rusty juggling skills near my campsite. These pictures show a much more typical density of camps, RVs, and tents.

Volunteer trash crew gets hauled through camp by a tractor.

The bonfire getting built by volunteer crews and big studly machinery.

Campsites

Many people put a lot of creativity into their campsites and random art pieces and installations. Again, there were far too many to capture here, these are just a sample.

Random assemblage of campers and yard decorations.

The Faerie Garden, a vendor of little fairy sculptures. Lots of pretty little good fairies here. The bad fairies are in the box on the bottom shelf, ask me if you want to see inside.

The Monkey House, or Bonobo-a-go-go, where they have a small stage inside the compound, right in the middle of their camp, for drum jams, concerts, and other entertainment.

One of the compounds of Babylon Heights, where I spent lots of time visiting and hanging out in the Pagan Heights area and Kung Fu Camp.

Altars

I always enjoy the many altars, small and large, that spring up around camp. This year, my favorites were the Silver Surfer altar (unfortunatly I don't have a picture), and the perennial Graveyard of Dead Lighters.

The altar at Beeches Kitchen, which I tried to keep stocked with tea lights and seven day candles.

A little fairy altar along the main road of "downtown" Starwood.

Eileen, camping next to Bruce, kept these goddess images on her table.
