King Richard's Faire, 20 October 2001
This Saturday I went to
King Richard's Faire
for the first time. I traveled with
Nemeton, the
BU Pagan Students Group, and met a bunch of friends there.

I got a passerby to take one picture of me at BU's Marsh Chapel.

Two pictures of me with Jess, showing off our garb. Several people
in street clothes asked me for directions or information, which I take
as a compliment (I must look okay if they think I work there!)

I had lots of fun playing these didjeridus at
Giving Tree Rhythms.

The most spectacular event is the jousting. Here is where the digital
camera really comes into its own ... I took lots of shots, without fear
of running out of film, and by chance some of them came out excellent.
The optical zoom helps a lot too, brings the action closer.

I was in the section that was supposed to be rooting for the Irish knight
(in green and white). I snapped this shot as they all rode by, and just
happened to catch him mugging for the crowd -- this pic is my favorite!

After a whole lot of ceremony and parading around, they get down to
business. I didn't get a good shot of the tilt (lances from horseback)
but once they were unhorsed, they went at it with swords, and I got a
couple good shots.

Here I am with the Nemeton gang, in the parking lot afterwards.

Elizabeth in her brand new bodice!

Renee in her "pat me" cloak!

Me in my garb, such as it is ... maybe I'll put together some fancier
getup, if I ever get around to it.
