Plum Island is an extension of Newburyport, on the north shore of
Massachusetts. I'd never been there before today. Ted dragged me out
there, and I'm very glad he did!

The whole ride follows the island's long interfaces between land and
sea. Salt marshes line the whole island.

Me, posing against a background of sweeping salt marsh fields.

Ted, posing likewise. I didn't frame the pic quite like he did, but
it still works.

Salt marsh. Probably the most underappreciated ecosystem
in the world.

Snowy egrets. Lovely birds that hang around here.

After the bike ride, we rambled into Newburyport and found a pub
restaurant. Here's Ted in front of the Friendship of Salem (I think),
and we talked a lot about the rigging and such. Fun! It's been a
long time since I dealt with running tackle.
