Ralph working in the kitchen, removing the old electric baseboard.

In order to insulate the kitchen floor area (which is always chilly),
Ralph pulled up the flooring, only to find a second floor beneath the
first one, for reasons which are not clear.

By lunchtime, all the flooring has been pulled up, and there is
insulation underneath but it's old and patchy, so new insulation is
going in, stuffed into the crevices where we think the cold outside
air has been getting in.

Kitchen area closet, where the FHW supply and return pipes will come
up from the basement.

On the other side of the closet wall is the bathroom, where the old
electric baseboard has been removed and a hole made for the FHW
connection.

Looking down the kitchen stairwell, to the section of wallboard that's
been removed for the supply and return piping.

By midafternoon, the plumber has run the supply and return piping.
These are two views in the basement, showing the flexible
aluminum-clad pipes brought to my Vaillant boiler.

Low, medium, and high views of the kitchen stairwell, showing supply
and return piping now run through the wall and up to the kitchen closet.
Much of my day has been spent packing and moving stuff in the living
room and office, where everything has to be moved away from the walls
to allow access to the baseboards.
